Starting Location: Steamboat Ditch TH (Horseman’s Park). Directions: From I-580 take the Moana Lane exit and head west until you intersect Skyline Blvd. Turn left onto Skyline Blvd and proceed uphill to Pioneer Drive. Turn left onto Pioneer Drive and then immediately turn right into the parking area.

From South McCarran head east on Skyline Blvd and continue .8 miles downhill to Pioneer Drive. Turn right onto Pioneer Drive then an immediate right into the parking area.

Description: Horseman’s Park is very close to the intersection of Skyline Blvd and S McCarran Blvd in Reno. We will hike northwest from Horseman’s Park along the Steamboat Ditch Trail. The trail is nicely graded gravel and dirt.

What to Bring: Wear shoes suitable for hiking on dirt trails with loose rocks and mud. Layer clothing as appropriate for the weather. Trekking poles for those who use them. Sun protection. Bring plenty of water, snack/lunch.
