Event: Hunter Creek Canyon To Waterfall

Starting Location: Michael D. Thompson TH. Directions: Take I-80 west to the McCarran Blvd exit. Turn left at McCarran Blvd and head south over the Truckee River to Mayberry Drive. Turn right on Mayberry Drive and drive approximately 1.3 miles to Plateau Road. Turn left on Plateau Road and drive one (1) mile to Woodchuck Circle. Turn right and follow it to the trailhead.

Description: After crossing the bridge, the trail begins a steep, steady climb to the waterfall. Parts of the trail are rocky with narrow drops-offs. Despite this, the trail is a popular destination for hiking and trail running. At the end of the trail is a 30-foot waterfall.

Distance(s): 6.4     Route Type: Out-and-Back     Elevation Gain: 1,240 (feet)     Difficulty: 6 (1=Easy thru 10=Very Difficult)

Event Specific Information: There will be mud near the stream crossings.

Hiking poles will be very helpful.

What to Bring: Drinking water and snacks. Hat and sunscreen are recommended. Trekking poles may be useful.
