Starting Location: Donner Summit Sno-Park TH. Directions: Take I-80 West to Castle Peak/Boreal Ridge Road exit #176. go east along the frontage road (Bunny Hill Drive) on the south side of the freeway to the Donner Pass Sno-park and park after the Sno-park sign.

One must purchase a Sno-Park Permit (online) for each vehicle. Go to ohv.parks.ca.gov and then look for the Sno-Parks link.

Description: This is a moderate plus six mile snowshoe hike. We will be taking a wide snow covered road to just below the Castle Peak Ridge. Then a hiking trail takes us up to the saddle with excellent views. The elevation gain to the saddle is approximately 800 ft. and two miles from the trailhead. From the saddle it is about another mile to Peter Grubb Hut with an additional 200 ft. of gain.

Event Specific Information: A SNO-Park permit is required for each vehicle parked at a SNO-Park site from November 1 through May 30 of each year. Day permits can be purchased for $15 online.
