Starting Location: Galena Creek Visitor Center TH. Directions: Heading up the Mt. Rose Highway, Galena Creek is about 7 miles above the junction with I580. Take the right turn off the highway at the Galena Creek Recreation Area, and then take the right turn into the Galena Creek Visitor Center parking lot.
Description: Hike on several linked trails in Galena Creek Regional Park and the adjacent USFS Galena Creek Recreation Area. Trekking through the forest, down a slight hill, up to a bridge overlooking a rushing stream, then up to an old fish hatchery Returning to the visitors center trekking through a nature walk.
Distance(s): 3.5 Route Type: Loop Elevation Gain: 200 (ft) Difficulty: 3 (1=Easy thru 10=Very Difficult)
Event Specific Information: It could be a little muddy, but it should be a beautiful day!
What to Bring: Drinking water and snacks. Hat and sunscreen are recommended. Trekking poles may be useful.
