Event: Upper Thomas/Whites Creek Loop

Starting Location: Thomas Creek TH. Directions: Take I-580 South to NV-431, Mt Rose Hwy. In about 4.5 miles, turn right onto N Timberline Dr. Proceed on paved road until it becomes a dirt road. Follow the dirt road across a small bridge that crosses Thomas Creek to the large, Thomas Creek Trailhead parking lot. (This is past the Upper Thomas Creek TH turn onto NF-049.)

Description: Our hike will begin at the Thomas Creek Trailhead. We will hike about a 1/2 mile on a paved/dirt road to connect to Whites Creek Trailhead. From there we will gradually climb along the creek, with some switchbacks to Dry Pond and then continue down Thomas Creek. Elevation gain is 1,000 ft. We will be walking through a couple of small creeks and might get a little wet due to the rain this week. There is lot’s of water running down the main creeks with many wild flowers and the scenery is beautiful.

Event Specific Information: You might want to bring a light rain coat!

What to Bring: Wear shoes suitable for hiking on dirt trails with loose rocks and mud. Layer clothing as appropriate for the weather. Trekking poles for those who use them. Sun protection. Bring plenty of water, snack/lunch.
