Distance: 4.5 miles Elevation gain: 400 feet Route Type: Out & Back
CarPool – meet at Starbucks Wedge Parkway at 9:00 a.m. for 9:15 a.m. departure or meet at the trailhead at 9:30 a.m.
Trailhead Parking: Take Mt Rose Highway NV-431 W to N Timberline Drive and turn right. Continue for less than a mile. Where the paved road ends and the dirt road begins you will find a cleared area for parking on the right side of the road. For more parking, you can continue another 500 feet up the dirt road and just before the bridge over Thomas Creek there is another cleared parking area for 10-12 vehicles.
Hike Description: We will snowshoe hike on a snow-covered forest service road (NF-049) that parallels the Upper Thomas Creek Trail alongside Thomas Creek. We have the option of coming back on the Upper Thomas Creek Trail.
What to bring: Snowshoes, poles, gloves, hat, layered clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, snacks
