Starting Location: Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point Campground. Directions: From the junction of I-80 and I-580/US-395 in Reno, take I-80 west to Truckee. Take exit 185 for CA-89 toward Lake Tahoe. At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto CA-89 S. In 300 feet, at the next traffic circle, take the 1st exit and stay on CA-89 S. toward South Lake Tahoe. Travel CA-89 S for 13 miles. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto CA-89/Lake Blvd. In 0.3 miles at the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto CA-89 S/W Lake Blvd. In approximately 9 miles Turn right into the Sugar Pine Point campground. You will come to the self serve pay station. After paying the day use fee turn left toward the day use parking.

Description: We will snowshoe on two groomed trails at Sugar Pine Point State Park. We will travel on a beginner and intermediate trail that in 1960 was part of the Olympic Winter Games Cross-country ski venue. Travel will be thru beautiful forest and across gorgeous General Creek.
Distance(s): 5.5 Route Type: Loop Difficulty: 3 (1=Easy thru 10=Very Difficult)
Event Specific Information: Be sure to check the OLLI calendar the morning of the snowshoe. If weather and/or road conditions are bad I will cancel the event.
The day use fee is $5.00 or $4.00 for 65 or older. The machine does take credit cards.
What to Bring: Snowshoes, Poles (with the larger baskets), Water, Snacks/lunch, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Dress in layers.
