Starting Location: Tahoe City – Lake Forest Launch Ramp. Directions: This location is on Lake Tahoe near Dollar Point about 1.5 miles from Tahoe City. It is about 25 miles from Reno. The address is 2500 Lake Forest Road, Tahoe City, CA 96145 You can launch your kayak and then park about 50 yards away. Parking is limited so arrive early. Park in the car park area not the boat trailer parking. Launching is free for kayaks if you launch at the beach. DO NOT USE the ramp as it would cost $75. It has toilets, a picnic area and, a small beach.

Description: We will depart from the Lake Forest launch ramp in Tahoe City and head West about a mile and a half to commons beach. Depending on weather and timing we may kayak over to the dam.

Arrive Early. As typical for Tahoe we may get afternoon winds so we want to be in the water and ready to go at 9AM.

Route Type: Out-and-Back     Difficulty: 3 (1=Easy thru 10=Very Difficult)

What to Bring: Purchase the required AIS decal from the Department of Wildlife (NDOW.ORG) located at 1100 Valley Rd; Reno, NV. Check the website or call 775-688-1500. Dress for the weather. Have your life vest (PFD), hat, sunscreen, drinking water, bug spray and snacks. Hiking poles are not necessary.
