Event: Rollins Lake (Near Colfax)

Starting Location: Rollins Lake Boat Launch at Long Ravine Campground. Directions: From the intersection of 580 and 80 head west before you get to Colfax, CA. Exit 139 towards Rollins Lake Road/Marga Road. Continue on scenic Rollins Lake Road for about 8 minutes. Long Revine Campground will be on your Right. Turn right on You Bet Road. Follow You Bet Road to Boat Launch Road which will be on your left. Meet at the beach near the boat launch.

There is a $10 fee to park.

Description: Rollins Lake is a pretty alpine lake. It is about an hour and a half from Reno depending on where you live. We will be launching at 9:30 at the lower East side of Rollins Lake and paddling along the East shore. There is a kayak rental place there if someone wants to rent a Kayak but I would call ahead to confirm their hours and location. It is called Rollins Lake Boat Rentals. If some people wish to do a shorter kayak I will lead that group back and Mike and the rest can go further. Bring your lunch as we will stop at one of the many spots to stop for a picnic lunch.

Route Type: Out-and-Back     Difficulty: 4 (1=Easy thru 10=Very Difficult)

Event Specific Information: There is a really cute place called the Red Frog nearby that I plan on stopping at before going home. Mike also told me that there is a really good produce market in Colfax.

What to Bring: Purchase the required AIS decal from the Department of Wildlife (NDOW.ORG) located at 1100 Valley Rd; Reno, NV. Check the website or call 775-688-1500. Dress for the weather. Have your life vest (PFD), emergency whistle, hat, sunscreen, drinking water, bug spray and snacks.
