Hike Photos

Gary led hikers on a 7.3 mile hike starting in Rancho San Rafael Park and going through the newly mural painted tunnel under McCarran Blvd to The Basque Monument and to the University of Nevada's "N" on the Peavine  mountain range.  After the official hike was over,  the hikers were pleasantly surprised with a St. Patrick's Day luncheon at St Patrick's Grove in the park.  Irish coffee, bread, dip,  brownies & chocolates were the featured treats.

Delia & Irene led hikers on 3 different trails & through 4 parks following the Last Chance Ditch  which included  pasturelands  on a 6.3 mile hike.

Gary led hikers up to Canoe Hill and...beyond....for a "9.3" mile hike.

On a 1st ever OLLI hike, Delia led hikers to Silver City that included a 45 minute tour of the Donovan Mill

Delia led hikers on a 7 mile hike along the Carson River & the Mexican Ditch.  LOTS of...ducks were seen upon arrival above us in the air, and along the waterways.

On a 6.3 mile hike, Connie & Mary led hikers  up 800' to this peak overlooking Spanish Spring in Sparks.

Walked these 3 urban wetlands (sidewalks & neighborhoods bordering minimal wetland space) the 1st three weeks of 2022.  Lots of birds on 2nd walk & got  with a few  feet of a red tail hawk on the third.

On what stated  with a 34 degree day, Mary led hikers on a 12.1 mile hike to the Thomas Creek Trailhead and back within the Ballardini Ranch & its rolling hills.  By hike's end the  temp was in the md 50's with beautiful cloud formations overhead.

Delia led hikers along the Carson River, past The Mexican Dam to the top of Prison Hill with its view of Carson Valley and it's surrounding  towns and mountains .  The hike was 7.6 miles.

Mary led hikers on this trail system owned by The Nature Conservancy.  We stopped at the amphitheater I ate Vicky's Halloween cookies & Mary's Nevada day cookies while listening to Jim Bonar's lecture.  This year we saw horse (unlike last year), and up close, 8 different times on this 10 mile hike,

Mary, along with Delia & Gary led hikers on the Deadman's Creek Trail.  An overcast drizzly pre-start of  the hike turned out to be a cool, breezy day with beautiful cloud formations.

Gary and Delia led a group of hikers from Spooner South Trailhead to "The Bench" to enjoy the clear, smoke-free views of Lake Tahoe. Pete served as sweep. Click HERE for photos.

Mary led 11 hikers on a 3.5 mile trail to the Fleish suspension bridge  which swayed & bounced as we crossed it. We stopped on the small beach on the Truckee River overlooking River Rock before returning  3.5 miles back.

Deliah led hikers 5.2 miles to Mount Houghton with its spectacular views at 10,480' then another 2.2 miles to Relay Peak at  nearly an identical height.  From there Gary led hikes  5.6 miles back to their cars completing the 13mile hike in 7 hours & 1 minute!

Mary led 14 hikers 9.1 miles on another HOT hike to Cliff Rock overlooking Jack Valley.

Sue led a 8.7 mile hike ( with Mark as her sweep)  to Mariah Point with its stunning overlook of the 4,500' Royal Gorge from the top of Snow Mountain in the distance.  Fun was had by all as we swung on a swing tied to a tree.
