WALK: CANCELED!
March 1, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am
OLLI WALK
Wednesday MARCH 1, 2023.
CANCELED!
This was the first scheduled OLLI WALK of 2023. It will be reluctantly canceled for snow and unsafe driving and walking conditions. I will post on this website Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning if the walk is canceled. CHECK THIS WEBSITE!
Mira Loma Park is a 37.5-acre Reno park with playgrounds, a skate park, athletic fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, pathways, seasonal restrooms, and parking lots. The park includes the Mira Loma Urban Trail, a paved 1.2-mile loop around the park, and is adjacent to the out-and-back trail alongside Dry Creek (very wet) and the Boynton Slough.
Walk on wide, paved, flat paths at Mira Loma Park, and along Dry Creek and Boynton Slough. Start at the north end of the park, south of the tennis courts. Walk the paved Urban Trail east 0.2 miles and cross the bridge to the Boynton Slough Trail. Take the Boynton Slough Trail east for 0.7 mile to a gate ending the trail. Water, usually with abundant waterfowl, will be on the left and houses on the right. Head back to the park on the trail. After crossing the bridge, go left on the Urban Trail. Walk the Urban Trail around the park, at forks stay left. Continue past the tennis courts RV track, skate park and parking lot. Continue back to the starting point. The hike will be about 2.7 miles.
DIRECTIONS:
Mira Loma Park is located at the corner of South McCarran Blvd and Mira Loma Drive. From South McCarran turn East on Mira Loma Drive then turn left into the Mira Loma Park parking lot. Park at the far north end of the parking lot near the tennis courts. There are seasonal restrooms (Probably CLOSED!) in the park. The walk will start at 9:30. Arrive by 9:15.
If events are changed or cancelled, you will be sent an email ONLY if you have opted in to receive them. Check your status above if you’re not sure.
