Starting Location: Davis Creek Regional Park. Directions: Take the I-580/US 395 freeway south to Exit 16, Old US 395. Exit right off the freeway off-ramp and almost immediately turn right again. Drive a short distance on Davis Creek Road into Davis Creek Regional Park. (Marked as a turn-around.)

Description: The hike will start at the PARKING LOT to the left when you enter the park, where the horse trailers park, at Davis Creek Regional Park, meeting at 9:00 a.m. It is in conjunction with the OLLI Summer Campout. Park fees are for camping. There is no fee for day use. The hikers are welcome to bring their picnic lunch, drink and chair to enjoy the festivities in the afternoon.

The 3-mile hike will be on the Discovery and Nature trails in the park. About 2 miles are easy and about 1 mile is moderate.

The more challenging hike, 6.5 miles, will be on the Discovery Trail, in the park, and out-and-back on the Ophir Creek Trail. The Ophir Creek Trail is rated moderate, but the further out you hike, the more strenuous it becomes. The trail is pretty steep. Trekking poles would be useful.

Event Specific Information: Starry Bush-Rhoads will lead the shorter hike.

What to Bring: Wear shoes suitable for hiking on dirt trails with loose rocks and mud. Layer clothing as appropriate for the weather. Trekking poles for those who use them. Sun protection. Bring plenty of water, snack/lunch.
