Ride Sharing: Wedge Pkwy Starbucks Parking Lot @ 08:30 AM. Directions: 18250 Wedge Pkwy in Galena Junction Shopping Center

Starting Location: V&T Railway Right-of-Way TH. Directions: Take I-580 south through Washoe Valley past Lakeview Hill. Stay, in your right hand lane and get off where it states North Carson Street Exit 8. Continue down two stop lights and make a right on W College Parkway. You, will see a Save Mart to your right and up further you will pass a golf course on your right. Continue up to Ormsby Blvd and make a right. Make a left on Combs Canyon Rd. Continue, up a hill and you will see a sign Jack Davis Observatory. Go, past the sign and make a left onto Murphy Drive. Continue down the road about 2 blocks until you see the parking area!

Description: We will be starting in the North West side of Carson City. We will follow the 1870’s V&T right of way to Lakeview Hill and then continue up a couple of slightly strenuous hills. There, we will have fantastic views of the Sierra’s and Carson City south to Gardnerville. Trekking poles are recommended! It has been mentioned that ticks are out already due to the wet spring. You might want to use insect spray because we will be going through sagebrush!

Distance(s): 6.3     Route Type: Loop     Elevation Gain: 500 (ft)     Difficulty: 4 (1=Easy thru 10=Very Difficult)

What to Bring: Wear shoes suitable for hiking on dirt trails with loose rocks and mud. Layer clothing as appropriate for the weather. Trekking poles for those who use them. Sun protection. Bring plenty of water, snack/lunch.
