Event: TRT- Spooner Summit South to Genoa Peak

Ride Sharing: Wedge Pkwy Starbucks Parking Lot @ 07:00 AM. Directions: 18250 Wedge Pkwy in Galena Junction Shopping Center

Starting Location: TRT Spooner Summit (South) TH. Directions: I-580 South through Carson City then 9.7 miles on US-50 West. On south side of Hwy 50 just west of summit.

Description: We will hike on the Tahoe Rim Trail, past the famed bench, to the turnoff to Genoa Peak. This is a fairly steep trail of just under a mile to the best view bar none of the Tahoe Area on the TRT. We shall return the same way and if the group desires we shall stop at the viewpoints and see if we can locate the South Camp Peak.

Distance(s): 13.5     Route Type: Out-and-Back     Elevation Gain: 2,400 (ft)     Difficulty: 5 (1=Easy thru 10=Very Difficult)

Event Specific Information: The snow is gone but hopefully the fabulous displays of Lupine and Penstemon we saw this Thursday are not. Perhaps we can chat with the TRT Thru Hikers who are still braving total snow coverage through Desolation and the Showers Lake Areas

What to Bring: Plenty of water, lunch, snacks. Clothing layers as needed, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, hiking poles.
