Ride Sharing: North West Kohl’s Parking Lot @ 07:30 AM. Directions: 5150 Mae Anne Ave in Ridgeview Plaza

Starting Location: Rubicon Trail TH. Directions: I-80 to Truckee; CA 89 South (30.5 miles) to D.L. Bliss SP; 1 mile to kiosk ($10 car fee) and then continue to end of pavement (past 1 Rubicon TH marker)

Description: This week’s hike will begin at D.L. Bliss State Park, on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Much of the trail follows the contour of Lake Tahoe with magnificent views of the Rubicon Bay, Emerald Bay and Fannette Island . Our destination is Emerald Bay, where we will climb to the waterfalls and then stop for lunch/snack After lunch, we will return to D.L. Bliss. The out-and-back hike will be approximately 10 miles.

Event Specific Information: Because vehicle access to the TH, is temporarily closed, we will meet just outside the kiosk where there is a parking lot. There is no charge for parking and we are able to easily walk down the road to the start of the trail. As of June 2nd, the trail was totally free of snow with only a few wet spots. The water crossing is fuller than usual but should not pose a problem. The falls are magnificent and are not to be missed as we may not have this much snowmelt for many more decades.

What to Bring: Plenty of water, lunch, snacks. Clothing layers as needed, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, hiking poles.
