Starting Location: Rancho San Rafael Arboretum TH. Directions: Take 80 west to Virginia street. Turn right onto Virginia and pass UNR campus. Once you get to McCarran, turn left onto Sierra St. and head south. The entrance to the park will be on your right. Turn right into the parking area next to the museum (second parking lot). If you are coming from McCarran, turn south onto Sierra St.

Description: The arboretum trail connects Rancho San Rafael Park, via the McCarran underpass tunnel, to the Basque Monument, the Nature Trail and the Evans Canyon Loop. This hike is popular with local residents. The elevation gain is 764 feet.

What to Bring: Wear shoes suitable for hiking on dirt trails with loose rocks and mud. Layer clothing as appropriate for the weather. Trekking poles for those who use them. Sun protection. Bring plenty of water, snack/lunch.
