Starting Location: Brown’s Creek TH. Directions: Take Mt Rose Hwy to Joy Lake Rd; make a left turn onto Joy Lake. About 1.5 miles, on the left, is the trailhead.

Description: We will be hiking at Brown’s Creek this week. It is an uphill climb to the top. We will take a short side trip to a vista of the Virginia Range and Steamboat Hills. We will then do the loop of Brown’s Creek. However, before completing the loop we will continue to Winter’s Creek. This part of the hike is dependent on trail conditions. The trail goes through a beautiful meadow with various pines and wild flowers.

Distance(s): 8.0     Route Type: Out-and-Back     

What to Bring: Wear shoes suitable for hiking on dirt trails with loose rocks and mud. Layer clothing as appropriate for the weather. Trekking poles for those who use them. Sun protection. Bring plenty of water, snack/lunch.
