Ride Sharing: North West Kohl’s Parking Lot @ 08:30 AM. Directions: 5150 Mae Anne Ave in Ridgeview Plaza
Starting Location: Martis Peak Road TH. Directions: Follow I-80 W to CA-267 E in Truckee. Continue on 267 past the turnoff for the Northstar Ski Resort for 2.5 miles. The entrance to Martis Peak Rd will be on your left. There is no signage. If your reach Brockway Summit, you have gone too far.
Description: This challenging snowshoe climbs for the first 4.2 miles, gaining 1700 feet in elevation before topping out at the Martis Peak Fire Lookout. The rewards are spectacular views of Truckee, Donner Pass, the Sierra Buttes and Lake Tahoe to the south.
Distance(s): 8.5 Route Type: Out-and-Back Elevation Gain: 1,700 (feet)
What to Bring: Snowshoes, Poles, Water, Snacks, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Dress in layers.
