Light Hike Event – TR Rock Park East

Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday 3/12.  Watch this space in case of cancellation due to weather as a chance of Rain is forecast for Monday.

Starting Location: Rock Park TH. Directions: The trailhead is at Rock Park – just north of the Truckee River on the west side of South Rock Blvd., between Mill St. and Greg St. in Sparks.

Description: We will follow the Truckee River Path about 1.5 miles east; past the McCarran “Bat Bridge”. We will then turn around and walk back to Rock Park. Walkers wanting 2 miles will turn back at 1 mile, at Glendale Park. This is a pleasant easy walk along the river on a paved path. It is mostly flat! The elevation delta is negligible.

Event Specific Information: Chance of rain is forecast, and the flood warning ends on Sunday. This is the first hike after Daylight Savings Time begins on 3/12. High temp forecast in abouot 50 degrees.

What to Bring: Drinking water and snacks. Hat and sunscreen are recommended. Trekking poles may be useful.
