Event: Galena Creek Trail

Starting Location: Lower Galena Creek TH. Directions: Take U.S. 395 to SR 431 (Mt. Rose Hwy); head west. Travel 3 miles to Callahan Rd; turn left or south. Follow for 1.5 miles; parking and trailhead on your right.

Description: The trail, which is next to Callahan Park, follows Galena Creek along Montreuxs Golf Course and will go under Joy Lake Rd. and will end at Mt. Rose Hwy. The trail is dirt/rocky and sandy. There may still be snow on the trail on the upper part of the trail.

Distance(s): 5.0 or 2.0     Route Type: Out-and-Back     Difficulty: 3 (1=Easy thru 10=Very Difficult)

Event Specific Information: Be sure to bring your poles. Part of the trail has black mud on it. There will be several small stream crossings. Suggest bringing a pair of shoes to change into at the end of the hike.

What to Bring: Drinking water and snacks. Hat and sunscreen are recommended. Trekking poles may be useful.
