When: Monday, May 29, 2023 @ 09:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Lambeth, Deborah (Debbie) @ 775-233-7536; deblige77@gmail.com
Starting Location: Brown’s Creek TH. Directions: Take Mt Rose Hwy to Joy Lake Rd; make a left turn onto Joy Lake. About 1.5 miles, on the left, is the trailhead.
Description: This is a moderate hike that has nice views looking toward Washoe Valley. There are some hills that follow ridgelines and drop down to cross Brown’s Creek on small bridges at different locations. This hike is on a rocky dirt trail. The first 1.2 miles has a gradual rise in elevation of about 900 feet up to a vista point with views of Washoe Valley and Washoe Lake. The loop then descends for about 3/4 of a mile to Brown’s Creek. We are going to turn around at this point and head back uphill to the vista point and back to the trailhead. This will avoid a stream crossing where the river is flowing around the bridge.
DIRECTIONS
Follow the Mt. Rose highway for a short distance past the North Galena Park entrance and turn left onto the Joy Lake Road. Then go 1.5 miles to the trailhead on the east side of the road where there is parking and an information kiosk. The trail begins across the street on the west side of the road.
