Fellow Kayakers
My name is Harvey and I will be leading the OLLI kayak group. I’d like others to help with the kayaking since I will be out of town occasionally.
We will begin with local areas for kayaking and then venture out to nearby areas, now that we have more water. All levels of kayaking experience are welcome, although we usually go at a leisurely pace and need to stay together for individual safety.
Emphasis will be on having fun, but safety is the most important. The location, times, and length of the kayaking will vary. All kayakers may meet at the kayaking location or meet at a predetermined location and caravan together. All kayaks must have a sticker on their kayak, which is obtained from the Nevada Dept of Wildlife (WWW.NDOW.ORG) costing $5 annually. Everyone must also have a personal flotation device (PFD) and recommend bringing hat, sunscreen,and H2O.
Weather is a big factor with kayaking and we will cancel if the weather becomes unfavorable. When kayaking at the Sparks Marina, kayaks may be rented.
